Winter Break is upon us as we are all getting read for a well deserved and restful break before we all start up again in 2024. 2023 has been quite the year and with all the challenges we have faced I am always amazed at the resilience of our Jack James school community. We have gathered hamper donations and food donations for over 90 families at Jack James and have received over $5000.00 in gift card donations from friends and family at Jack James. Ms. Willis and her team of Elves have been busy putting all the hampers together and getting them ready for pick up this week. Thank you to everyone for supporting our amazing Jack James community!!!
The diversity and uniqueness of Jack James has created a culture not seen in other CBE Schools. As we continue to focus on our School Development Plan on improving, literacy and numeracy through targeted focused interventions while also focusing on student wellness and resiliency. I want to remind all of our students that when they come to school it is important for them to continue to work hard and focus in their studies. The end of the semester is close.
As we get closer to winter break, I want to thank all our students, families and staff for their diligence in 2023 and I look forward to 2024. To our students at Jack James my wish for you in 2024 is to engage in the many opportunities Jack James has to offer, to get involved in the school through clubs, athletics and the many other activities that are organized for you. Become a valuable member of our school community that is focused on kindness, sharing, giving and looking after one another. Jack James High School is for all students and your positive behaviour. That's what makes our school a great place to be and to learn.
At this time I would also like to acknowledge our parent council for all the support they have given us this last year. We have been able to make many improvements to our school and give students opportunities they normally could not afford. Thank You!!!
As we look ahead, here are some important dates that are coming up as we finish off the First Semester:
Dec 22 – Last Day of Classes
Dec 25 - Jan 5 – Winter Break
Jan 8 - Classes resume
Jan 19 – Last day of regular classes
Jan 22 & 23- Open Completion Days- students should check-in with their teachers to see if there are outcomes they need to still demonstrate to complete their courses.
Jan 24-29 – Completion by appointment only - Students can make appointments with their teachers to attend to complete work and assessments to improve their final grades. Some students will have exams scheduled during this time – posted on our website and shared in classes.
Jan 29 – Grade 9 Tours all Day, Open House 4:30pm – 6:00pm
Jan 30- JJHS Parent Advisory Council & PAAAC Meetings – 5:00pm
Jan 31 – Start of Semester 2 – students can access their semester 2 timetable on MyCBE.
