We wanted to share that the Nation’s Vision Team will be back at Jack James this year from May 5-9th! Nations Vision (NV) is a multidisciplinary portable eyecare team which can provide your child’s free-of-charge annual eye exams! Please see the attached consent form with more information about what they do and how to sign up.

We also wanted to share that students who are looking to apply to become an R12 student should come Monday at lunch, to the Learning Commons where they can hear about the application process, expectations and requirements around being an R12 student for next year. The deadline for R12 students to return their application forms is April 14, 2025, by 9am. Please see the attached application form for more details!

Music-Band Club - Monday – Thursday at Lunch (all year) in Autobody
GSA - Tuesdays at Lunch in the Art Room
Sewing Club – Wednesdays after school from 3:37-4:37pm
Open Gym - Monday and Thursdays between 7:30 am to 8:45am. If you are interested in some fun in the gym, come stop by. Students can play activities of their choice or participate in some Basketball. See you at 7:30am.
PE Bi-Weekly Update
Track and Field is starting up next week. We have had several students sign up already and those students who are still interested please connect with Mr. Spanos or Mr. Marino on Monday next week! We would love to see you in the events.
Interested in Voting?
Will you be 18 before April 28th? Are you hyped about living in a democracy? Want to make your social teachers proud? Go see Ms. Hoven or Mr. Spanos to learn more about how to register to vote and make a plan so that you are all set come election day. They can help you register and help you gather the info you need to be able to vote (like what types of ID you can use).
LDAA Building Connections Conference
The LDAA Building Connections – Shaping the Future of Learning Disabilities Conference is on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at Calgary Academy. With a focus on Learning Disabilities and ADHD, this conference is set up for educators, educational assistants, and parents to come together, build connections, increase knowledge, gather new resources, and so much more!
SESSIONS INCLUDE
- New research, tools, and skills in the LD and ADHD fields
- How to support and identify children struggling with behaviours and increase positive behaviours
- Debunking ADHD myths, the learning process, and best medications for ADHD
- The importance of early intervention through to high school accommodations
- Structured literacy intervention from standard literacy instruction
- How to foster self-determination, advocacy, awareness, and regulation in neurodivergent learners
- Explore nuero-myths and supporting student learning and memory
- Develop a strong school-home connection and all about assistive technologies
